Christine and I were invited once again by the Johnson Hospital League of Friends to attend their Summer Fayre.
We were delighted to accept and this year we were joined by the new Chairman of South Holland District Council, Cllr and Mrs Seymour.
We arrived in good time and were greeted by Cllr Newton and Cllr Sneath who are members of the League of Friends. During the course of the afternoon we participated in the Games and Raffles and we had a good look around the many stalls.
We were thoroughly entertained by the Slap Dash Dancers from Pinchbeck and music by the Beauvale Ensemble
The League continues to support the hospital with the provision of extra equipment whilst giving priority to making the patients’ visits to the hospital a little more comfortable. Last year, the League purchased equipment for both the Welland Ward and the Outpatients Department to the value of £5,000. This year, the League has been asked to support the purchase of wheelchair scales, multi-functional large handrail scales and knee stools for use by day patients following vein surgery. There are now plans to expand the Cataract Department.
On a more social side, the League provides patients with gifts at Christmas, Mothering Sunday and the Trolley Dollies’ pay a weekly visit selling confectionery and toiletries.
We then toured the wards and spoke to patients and their families who are going through troubled times – our thoughts and prayers are with them.
4pm came by very quickly. I would like to take this opportunity of wishing everybody a special “well done” for making the day very lovely for everyone involved.
