Sunday, 26th August, saw both Christine and I attending the Cricket Match between the Moulton Harrox Irregulars and the Lords & Commons XI. This year’s event was the 19th such cricket match. Despite the cold and rain, the game went ahead but with reduced overs. Sadly, after lunch, it just became impossible to continue the match and rain did stop play. This is only the 2nd time in its 19 year history that rain has stopped play.
Last year’s winners were the Moulton Harrox Irregulars and as is customary in a rained off situation, the trophy was presented to them. The following photograph is of me presenting the trophy to Roger Grant, the Captain, together with John Hayes CBE MP.
The presentation was followed by a delicious Hog Roast and, of course, the raffle.
It’s always a pleasure to support this event because over the years it’s raised many thousands of pounds for local charities.
